A clear look at the Warriors of Chaos Arcane Journal for Warhammer: The Old World: what the 48-page supplement covers, who it suits, and how to use it in your campaigns.
Quick answer
The Warriors of Chaos Arcane Journal is a 48-page supplement for Warhammer: The Old World that expands Chaos campaigns with the Chaos Wastes setting and the Saga of the Chainmaker. It is a focused lore and campaign book rather than a complete standalone army list.
What the journal adds to your Old World games
This is a supplement, so it works alongside your core Old World rules rather than replacing them. The 48 pages concentrate on the Chaos Wastes and the Saga of the Chainmaker, giving you narrative material and campaign framing for a Warriors of Chaos force.
If you already own the core rules and want more Chaos-specific background and scenarios, this is the kind of book that earns its shelf space. If you are starting from zero, buy the core rules first.
Where the journal stops short
The catalog description does not list a full unit profile section or complete army list. Treat it as a campaign and lore expansion unless you can confirm the exact contents elsewhere. That limitation matters if you expect a one-book solution for building and running a Chaos army.
Common questions about the Warriors of Chaos Arcane Journal
- Is this a standalone army book?
- No. It is a supplement for Warhammer: The Old World and assumes you already have the core rules. Use it to expand campaigns, not to replace your main rulebook.
- What is actually inside?
- The 48 pages explore the Chaos Wastes and tell the Saga of the Chainmaker. Those two features are the confirmed contents; other sections are not specified in the catalog listing.
- Who should buy it?
- Old World players running or planning a Warriors of Chaos force who want Chaos-specific lore and campaign material. New players should get the core rules first.
- Does it include full army rules?
- The catalog does not confirm a complete unit-by-unit rules section. Check the book's own contents page or a preview if you need full army-list rules before buying.
- How does it fit with other Arcane Journals?
- Each Arcane Journal targets a specific faction and setting. This one is Chaos-focused, so it pairs naturally with a Warriors of Chaos collection rather than with Order factions.
